Fallen Hero Honoured

Glo’tharius Smith (CPIN Local! Anchor):
“Good evening, Chiss citizens. Today, the Ascendancy pays tribute to one of its own in a solemn ceremony aboard the Assassin-class corvette named in honor of Jeria Carn, a fallen warrior of the Chiss Expeditionary Defense Fleet. Chiss Military Warrior Carn gave her life in defense of Industrialist Mechna Yerikov and Grand Syndic Cong during a brutal Wampa attack at Tenasas K’arci. We go now to the memorial dedication ceremony where the ship, the Jeria Carn, is being christened. Our reporter, Olric Sevran, is at the scene.”

Cut to Olric Sevran, CPIN reporter, aboard the corvette:

“Thank you, Glo’tharius. We stand aboard the newly commissioned Jeria Carn—a vessel now etched into the legacy of the Ascendancy. The Assassin-class corvette, known for its agility and precision in battle, is a fitting tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Jeria Carn. The ceremony today not only commemorates her heroic death but enshrines her memory as part of our defense fleet’s might.”

Cut to Grand Syndic Gliddon speaking at the ceremony:

“Warrior Jeria Carn was more than just a soldier; she was a protector, a defender of the Ascendancy. Her sacrifice ensured that we could continue to rebuild and move forward. Her name will live on, not only in our hearts but also in the stars, as this corvette bears her name in defense of our people. Her bravery inspires us all, and this ship will serve as a symbol of her unwavering commitment to her comrades and the Chiss Ascendancy.”

Cut back to Olric Sevran, CPIN reporter:

“As the ceremony concluded, the mood was solemn but also deeply reverent. A select few close to Carn were given a chance to speak about her bravery, including Private Ranek Thull, who witnessed the fateful day of her final stand.”

Private Ranek Thull (interviewed): “I’ll never forget it. We were out there in the frozen wastes on an expedition with Mechna Yerikov’s alien squad, they aren’t meant for the frozen lands of Csilla. Naturally, they were ambushed by a pack of Wampas. Yerikov’s alien guard were wiped out almost instantly—it was chaos.”

Thull’s voice grows quieter, reflecting on the moment Jeria Carn made her move.

“Grand Syndic Gliddon had responded to the attack on Mechna, and engaged the Wampas directly. They fought furiously, while the Grand Syndic killed one of them, the other was freed up to attack Mechna, Jeria jumped in and the Wampa attacked her, with Jeria taking a fatal blow.”

Jeria didn’t hesitate. She knew what she was doing. I remember the Wampa swiping at her—it was brutal. Carn took the blow, but who knows what the Wampa was thinking, could have easily been the Industrialist, or even the Grand Syndic.”

Thull pauses before continuing.

“While the Wampa was busy eating Jeria, Gellert von Falkenstein, CEO of Subduco Syndicate arrived and then dead eye sniper shot the Wampa the ear, it turned the Wampa head into mist. Crack shot. But it was too late for Jeria.”

Cut back to Olric Sevran: “As the Ascendancy names this Assassin-class corvette, Jeria Carn, her bravery becomes immortalized in our fleet. A fitting tribute for a warrior whose courage exemplifies the heart of the Chiss.”

Anchor, Glo’tharius Smith (CPIN): “A touching story, indeed. Jeria Carn’s memory will not only endure in the ship bearing her name but in the legacy of the Chiss Expeditionary Defense Fleet. She will forever be a reminder of the sacrifices made to protect the Ascendancy. That concludes our coverage from the Jeria Carn dedication ceremony. Up next, we have a story about Aliens, and ask the question everyone is wondering, ‘Why do they make you sick?’ We’ll be back after these messages”

REST IN PEACE
JERIA CARN
